At a meeting on 20 March 2018, the City of Joburg proposed that the threshold of property values for qualifying pensioners be increased from R2m to R2.5m (25% increase). Other changes related to monthly income are detailed below:
Pensioner’s rebates
60-69 years (provided that your property value is not valued at more than R2.5m)
- gross monthly income for 100% rebate: less than R9245
- gross monthly income for 50% rebate is R9245 to R15 845
70 years and older – 100% rebate provided your property value is not valued at more than R2.5m
