Penalty rates for non-compliance

The City will impose penalty rates on anyone who does not comply with building regulations such as:

• building without approved plans or
• using a property that it does not have rights/zoning for or for any abandoned property.  This is in terms of the City’s Property Rates Policy (2019). 

Penalty rates on owners will be charged up to SIX times the normal rate that would apply to that property.
