The week-end 12-13 April saw clean-ups happening in four different areas of Emmarentia:

· Emmarentia security companies (SCP, Beagle and CAP) together with residents and a youth group, cleaned the green area and the spruit/small dam below the big Emmarentia Dam of litter, illegally dumped rubbish bags and other debris. Thanks to SCP, Beagle Watch and CAP for sending their green teams; thanks to Sunny Shell for providing three workers to assist; to Eastern Temptations for sponsoring bottles of water and to a number of residents for sponsoring their gardeners to assist.

Top dam

·    A group of dedicated dog-walkers and weeders with City Parks employees and contractors attacked the banks of the top dam in Emmarentia park – next clean-up will target cleaning the spruit – Meet at Orange Road entrance to the Park, Saturday 10 May 8-12.00; contact Sam on 072 581 0624; Jenny on 072 348 0578 (community service letters provided)·  Dabulamanzi Canoe Club cleaned and cleared the banks at Emmarentia Dam. The top dam clean-up

·  Weed warriors on Melville Koppies are clearing blackjacks, khakibos and other weeds from the nature reserve/heritage site – every Sunday from 8-11.30. More details, contact Elsje – 082 490 4675
