Councillor Tim Truluck, ward councillor for Ward 117, estimates that it will take the City of Joburg about a year to deal with the 8000 appeals that were lodged against the new valuations.
He says that those that appealed should receive an e-mail or letter giving the date of the hearing.
Appeals will be heard on a first-come-first-served basis from 9am at 66 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein. As soon as you arrive, sign the register to secure your place in the line. Take your supporting documents with you.
If you cannot attend, inform them as soon as possible with proof of why you cannot attend.
Section 52 review
If you don’t and ‘you miss your date without a valid reason, then your appeal will be converted to a Section 52 Review which is then held internally and you will not be invited to attend,’ he says.
