All Emmarentia residents welcome to attend the annual general meeting of the Emmarentia Residents Association.

The meeting will take place at Marks Park on 11 March 2020 from 18h30 for 19h00 in the Pavilion Room. Come a bit earlier and meet fellow residents.

We need new blood on the ERA Exco so that we can represent you better. New ideas and volunteers are always welcome.

Membership fees per annum:

• R350 per household (R200 for pensioners)
• R950 for businesses

2020/21 Resident Access Pass car stickers (2 per household) will be available at the AGM (proof of residence required)

Guest speaker to be announced closer to the time.

From 1 October to 30 November 2019, the Lesotho Highlands Water Project is doing essential inspection and maintenance of its tunnels. No water from Lesotho will be fed into the Vaal River system during that time.

So please use water sparingly and remember  the current water restrictions:

• no cleaning of vehicles, driveways with hoses
• no watering of garden with a hose between 6am and 6pm.

Pikitup will come and pick up large waste items from your house such as old mattresses, old furniture, fridges and large electronic waste materials such as washing machines, dishwashers and freezers.

Recently 40 dogs were poisoned in one night in a suburb in Roodepoort. If dogs die, thieves can get easier access to burgle homes. Experts advise dog-owners to keep dogs inside at night if possible. If you suspect your dog has been poisoned, take it immediately to the vet. Report any dog poisoning to SAPS Parkview.  

City Parks has contracted an engineering firm to do a study of the top two dams in the dog-walking section of Emmarentia park. ERA has been accepted as an interested and affected party. Anyone that wants to make an input please e-mail us on  info@era.org.za

The increases listed below are to be implemented on 1 July 2019. You have a chance to comment on them for a month until 15 April 2019 by sending an email to

The Increases Are:
• Property rates increase by 5.5%
• Electricity increases by 12.2% (Nersa increase)
• Water increases by 9.9%
• Sewer increases by 9.9%
• Refuse increases by 7%

This park is the stretch of green open space along the Spruit that leads from the Virgin Active Gym in Rustenburg Rd to the intersection of Ley and Tana Rds.

The section that this meeting will focus on is the southern side bounded by Rustenburg and Tana Rds opposite the Engen garage.

City Parks have agreed that it can be leased for projects that are primarily for Sports and Recreational purposes. Come and have your say about what you think should go there.
