Domestic workers watch revived
ERA has revived the monthly domestic workers watch meetings. Open to all domestic workers in Emmarentia, the first one will take place on September 26 from 10h00 to 11h30 at Emmarentia Sailing Club, corner Louw Geldenhuys and Olifants Road. Meetings start promptly at 10h00.
“The Emmarentia Domestic Watch was a good thing,” says Molly one of the workers that attended the earlier Domestic Watch monthly meetings.
“We met with other ladies, we shared a lot of things. We taught each other about being aware of things happening around our workplace, to always be alert, even walking in the street,” remembers Molly.
The September meeting will cover identify theft – what to do if you are a victim.
The cost is R50 per session to pay for the speaker and R20 to pay for refreshments. ERA is asking employers to cover the cost of these meetings.
